GERRY JOE WEISE has stated quite often that he spends time working 50/50 between music and art. Which is very true for most of the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s. The exception to the rule is where for a period of time, for example 1976 till 1979 Gerry Joe Weise spent the majority of his time with music. And 1986 till 1990, he spent the majority with contemporary art.

The collection of recent photography titled "New-Nature" by Gerry Joe Weise is his own "photojournalism of an environmental situation". His utilization of transparent photographic slidework, dates back to the mid-1980s, where the first works were engravings on deep colour used to illustrate imaginary outer space constellations. The new mid-2000s photo-works are a juxtaposition of landscape images on diapositives, creating a new order that defies gravity and original perspective phenomenon.

The Digital Collages "New-Realities", are a memory fingerprint retaining Gerry Joe Weise's stay in South Australia, especially of Adelaide and environs. Abstraction is the principal motif : the act of recreating a memory and/or the general idea behind a landscape, the state of thinking about the shapes and patterns that a scenery can generate, so that one can intake the notion of what is intangible.

It is interesting to see Gerry Joe Weise's recurring "Nature" theme, udergo a transformation from Photography ("New-Nature") to Digital Collages ("New-Realities") to the panoramic "Nightscapes". The wide serial cinema-scope pictures representing an instant of time, have a dark, gloomy, sombre palette of colours. They are night, dusk, twilight, shadowy landscapes of a dreamlike quality.
